The UK telecoms regulator has today announced its intention to delay the start of their auction for 190MHz worth of prime Mobile Broadband spectrum in the 2.3GHz (2350MHz to 2390MHz) and 3.4GHz (3410MHz to 3600MHz) bands, which was due to commence this month.

Ofcom has published their latest Telecoms Market Data update, which reports that the United Kingdom is now home to a total of 24.17 million fixed line residential and small business broadband ISP connections (excludes corporate lines) in Q2 2015 (up by +167K since Q1, but down from the +277K added in Q4 2014).

The UK telecoms regulator has today published its Connected Nations 2015 report and confirmed that 83% of premises are now within reach of a fixed line superfast broadband (30Mbps+) service (up from 75% in 2014), with take-up reaching 27% (up from 22%). But they also changed the definition of “ultrafast” speeds from 100Mbps+ to 300Mbps+.

The national UK telecoms regulator has ruled that they have “reasonable grounds” for believing that BT contravened 13A.8 and 8A.8 of their Significant Market Power (SMP) conditions, which means that the operator has not provided all of the information that it is required to supply.

Rivals are today hoping that BT may have dented its position in Ofcom’s on-going Strategic Review after the UK telecoms regulator revealed that the operator had billed £1.7m from part of their EE mobile merger to its “functionally separate” Openreach division, which was called “inappropriate“.
