Starlink Grok AI Website Chatbot Example

The Starlink service from SpaceX, which offers ultrafast broadband speeds to the UK and globally via a massive constellation of satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), appears to have expanded the availability of their Grok-based AI chatbot to support customers on their website. The service was already added for users of their App a few months ago.

European satellite operator Eutelsat has announced that they’ve ordered a further 340 Low Earth Orbit (LEO) broadband satellites for their global OneWeb network from Airbus Defence and Space. This is on top of the planned 100 satellite extension that was previously procured in Dec 2024 (due to for delivery in late 2026); representing a total network expansion of 440 satellites.

The Starlink (SpaceX) service, which offers ultrafast broadband speeds to the UK and globally via a massive global constellation of satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), has secured regulatory approval to launch 7,500 more satellites (albeit not quite the 22,000 they had originally wanted); these will sit at lower orbits, use more radio frequencies and deliver faster speeds.

The UK Space Agency (UKSA) has reportedly invited interested suppliers, such as Starlink, to engage on the possibility of harnessing Direct to Device (DtD) based signals from broadband satellites to help resolve coverage gaps in the Government’s massively late and over-budget 4G based Emergency Service Network (ESN); currently being delivered by EE (BT).

The Vice President of Starlink Engineering for SpaceX, Michael Nicolls, has revealed that they’re going to move all of the broadband satellites they currently have in a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) at around 550km above the planet to c.480km (impacting roughly 4,400 satellites) over the course of 2026.

The Government has announced that South Western Railway (SWR) has launched a new one-year trial to deliver faster onboard WiFi (wireless broadband) for people travelling on journeys between London Waterloo, Portsmouth Harbour and Weymouth in England. The effort should complement recent work to deploy a new track-side fibre and 5G mast network (here).

Internet connection testing firm Opensignal has today published their 2025 Fixed Broadband Experience report, which gauges the performance of major ISPs across the UK including BT (inc. EE), Sky Broadband, TalkTalk, Three UK, Virgin Media and Vodafone. Overall, Virgin Media scored wins in every single national connectivity category.

The commercial launch of Amazon Leo (formerly Project Kuiper), which is due to start going live during 2026 (it’s currently in beta, albeit initially only for enterprise customers), will initially exclude northern Scotland from the coverage of its new mega constellation of ultrafast broadband satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). And it might be a while before that changes.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has banned an online banner advert for SpaceX’s ultrafast broadband satellite service, Starlink, after it was found to be “misleading” because the offer of free terminal hardware (normally £299) omitted several key bits of material information.

The telecoms regulator, Ofcom, has today approved UK mobile companies and satellite operators to join forces and use the airwaves (mobile spectrum bands) to support Direct to Device (D2D) services, which will allow standard unmodified Smartphones to connect via satellites to improve 4G and 5G (calls, texts and broadband) coverage in remote areas and roaming.

Mobile operators across the world, including some of Starlink’s own partners, have been put on notice of greater competition after SpaceX’s CEO, Elon Musk, hinted he might use his mega-constellation of ultrafast broadband satellites to launch his own mobile network. Musk has now filed to trademark the name “Starlink Mobile“.
