ISPA Pulls UK Internet Villain Category Over Mozilla DoH Fallout

One embarrassment too many. The UK Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) has, at the 11th hour, decided to scrap the “Internet Villain” category from their annual industry awards event, which came after a global backlash over their decision to nominate Mozilla due to their DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) push.

The UK Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) has published a list of finalists for the “Internet Hero” and “Internet Villain” categories at this year’s forthcoming annual internet industry awards, although the decision to put Mozilla under the Villain category for their DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) push may be contentious.

The fallout from a 2015 cyberattack against TalkTalk’s UK website, which exposed the personal data of 156,959 customers to hackers, appears to be continuing after a new report alleges that the broadband ISP failed to correctly inform 4,545 customers that their data had been compromised (instead they were told it was NOT exposed).

New UK Laws to Make Broadband Routers and IoT Kit More Secure

The Government has today launched a new consultation on their proposal to introduce new laws that would seek to improve the security of internet connected devices, such as smart TVs, broadband ISP routers, smart speakers and other Internet of Things (IoT) style devices. Government Bans Huawei Kit from Core UK 5G Mobile Networks
