Internet Hackers Target Ofcom UK via Telecoms SPAM Email

Some people and telecoms operators around the United Kingdom are being hit by a spate of SPAM emails, which appear to emanate from the national regulator. Industry sources initially suggested to ISPreview.co.uk that Ofcom had suffered a security breach, although the regulator denies this.

A crossbench life peer of the House of Lords, Baroness Beeban Kidron, has re-proposed a new “cultural framework” (iRights), which among other things moots the seemingly controversial idea of a universal Internet delete button where “every website” that allows people to post content would also offer the ability to remove it.

High Court Rules UK Telecoms and Internet Data Retention Act Unlawful

The Government’s plan to introduce tougher Internet snooping laws has suffered a setback after the High Court ruled that key parts of the temporary Data Retention and Investigatory Powers Act (DRIP), which is due to be replaced by the end of 2016 with a more controversial and extensive law, are unlawful.
