ISPreview.co.uk isn’t the only one to notice the ridiculous amount of banned adverts for Virgin Media’s broadband, phone and TV packages, which the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has repeatedly accused of being “misleading“. This week saw the BBC’s famous consumer affairs TV show, Watchdog, take the ISP to task with a comical twist.

National UK cable operator Virgin Media has begun the final phase of their plan to double its customers broadband speeds by upgrading their existing 100Mbps (Megabits per second) subscribers to the slightly faster download rate of 120Mbps (12Mbps uploads).

The UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has once more raked Virgin Media over the coals after a TV advert for the service, which featured Dr Who actor David Tennant, misleadingly implied for a second time that customers who joined their super-fast broadband ISP could “say goodbye to buffering” on internet video streams.

Cable operator Virgin Media Business claims to have “successfully trialled … LTE-ready” small cell based Mobile Broadband technology in Newcastle and Bristol (England), which delivered internet speeds that were “three times faster than current 3G networks” (i.e. up to 90 Megabits per second).

UPD Ofcom UK Report Fall in Broadband ISP Complaints – TalkTalk Still the Worst

The communications regulator, Ofcom, has today revealed its latest customer complaints data for the UK’s largest fixed line broadband and mobile providers (those with a market share of +4%), which covers the second quarter (Q2-2012). Happily ISP complaints saw a sharp fall but TalkTalk remains the provider with most complaints.
