Sky Broadband Finally Fixes VoIP Timing and DHCP Router Bugs

Customers of UK ISP Sky Broadband may be pleased to learn that the provider is now deploying a new firmware (software) update for their latest SR203 and SR204 Sky Hub wireless routers, which the provider says should finally fix two of last year’s biggest bugs with VoIP timing and DHCP networking.

Businesses Unprepared for the End of Traditional Phone Lines

A new survey has warned that 24% of UK businesses (33% for SMEs) aren’t aware of the plan to withdraw traditional copper line phone services (PSTN – WLR, LLU SMPF etc.) by December 2025, which will see both homes and businesses being migrated over to a modern all-IP based network for broadband and voice connectivity.

BT to Continue Discount for Landline Only UK Phone Users

ISP BT has voluntarily proposed to Ofcom that the protection it handed to UK consumers who take their landline-only phone service in 2018 (i.e. lines without broadband), which among other things cut the monthly rental from £18.99 to £11.99, should be continued for a further 5 years. We can’t see that being rejected.

ISP iDNET to Migrate Entire UK Phone Network to All-IP with BT

UK broadband ISP iDNET has today announced that they’ve signed a 5-year deal with BTWholesale to help migrate their entire “phone network” to an all-IP solution in advance of the 2025 digital switch-over (when old analogue phones services are due to be withdrawn).

ISP Sky Broadband UK Preps Firmware to Fix VoIP Timing Bug

A recent update to Sky Broadband’s latest SR203/204 Sky Hub wireless router appears to have caused a bug for the ISP’s VoIP using customers, which results in a 1 hour time difference on DECT handsets that can sometimes prevent calls from reaching the customer. But a fix is coming, even if we don’t know when.

FTTP Broadband ISP Zzoomm Offers VoIP via KIT – KeepInTouch

Budget broadband ISP TalkTalk has reported that calls made via landline phones in the UK on their service have increased by 50% during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) lockdown as British people turned to more “traditional methods of communication” to stay in touch with family and friends (not to mention working from home).
