Complaints about the erection of new telegraph poles are nothing new in the UK. But one growing campaign – involving residents of Hedon and South Preston – appears to be taking their dispute with full fibre network builder MS3 to a new level, by organising a 10-year boycott of broadband ISPs that sell their services.

The Sheffield City Council (SCC) has ordered CityFibre to cease its roll-out of a new 10Gbps capable full fibre (FTTP) broadband ISP network in part of the South Yorkshire (England) City, which occurred after its contractor breached a permit and allowed night works to continue on well past the 11pm limit.

Network operator MS3, which is deploying a 10Gbps capable full fibre (FTTP) broadband ISP network to cover 535,000 premises across the North of England by the end of 2025 (here), has today announced that several ISPs managed under the central Telecom Acquisitions (TAL) group have gained access to their network.

Broadband ISP BT has today continued the region-by-region deployment of their Internet Protocol (IP) based home phone service, Digital Voice, by announcing that they’re about to start the roll-out in Northern Ireland, which will be followed this autumn by customers in the North West and across London.

Network operator CityFibre has today announced that they’ve begun a £31.2m project to deploy their 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP / XGS-PON) broadband ISP network across the South Yorkshire town of Wath Upon Dearne, which is home to a local population of around 12,000. But it’ll go further than that.

Hull-based network builder MS3, which is working to roll out a 10Gbps capable full fibre (FTTP) broadband ISP network to cover 500,000 premises across the North of England by the end of 2025 (here), has today announced a partnership with Carbon Neutral Britain (CNB) to help them “offset their carbon footprints“.

Broadband ISP BT has today confirmed that they’ve extended the ongoing region-by-region deployment of their new Internet Protocol (IP) based home phone service, Digital Voice, to include the Yorkshire and Humberside areas of England. After this, we expect Northern Ireland to be next.

Network operator CityFibre has apologised to their business connectivity users in Leeds (Yorkshire, England) after their attempt to replace an old 288f fibre joint cable, which was due to be upgraded to 432f, resulted in a “significant number” of customers (e.g. Dark Fibre and Ethernet services) being hit by connectivity problems.
