UK ISP Quickline, which is rolling out a full fibre (FTTP) broadband network across more rural and semi-rural parts of North East England, has today announced the appointment of Darryl Petch to become their new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Darryl succeeds Ian Smith who served as CTO for two years.
The new CTO is known to have more than 15 years of experience working in the telecommunications and IT sectors. Prior to joining Quickline, he held senior positions at Borderlink/Gofibre and M247. Darryl also previously provided technology support to Quickline while working with the Project Advisory Group (PAG), which means that he has some familiarity with the business already.
In his new capacity, Darryl will oversee all aspects of Quickline’s technology operations, including network design, systems development and technical support.

Quickline CEO, Sean Royce, said:
“I’m thrilled to welcome Darryl to Quickline’s executive team. His proven track record and deep understanding of the fibre industry will be instrumental in driving our growth strategy forward.”
The operator, supported by funding of around £500m from Northleaf Capital Partners, holds an aspiration to cover 500,000 premises in rural and semi-rural areas across North East England with “ultrafast broadband” via both FTTP and their 5G based fixed wireless technology “by 2025” (here). Some 300,000 of that figure are already being reached by their wireless network.
