B4RN Set to Hit 5000 Rural UK FTTH Broadband Connections Target

Plucky rural ISP B4RN (Broadband for the Rural North), which has spent the past 6 years deploying a 1Gbps capable community built and funded “full fibre” (FTTH) broadband network to remote homes in several counties across England, looks set to hit their 5,000 connections target by around the end of this month.

North Yorkshire UK Targets 97% Superfast Broadband Coverage

The Superfast North Yorkshire project in England has revealed how an additional £11.15m of funding, which was recently secured from the Government’s £75m Rural Broadband Infrastructure Scheme (RBIS), could boost “superfast broadband” (24Mbps+) coverage from the current target of 95% to 97%.

Cable ISP Virgin Media UK has announced that their 350Mbps ultrafast broadband and cable TV network has now been extended to cover 35,000 premises in Leeds (West Yorkshire, England). UK ISP TalkTalk has today published their latest half year results to 31st March (FY 2018), which saw them add +109K new on-net broadband subscribers in the final quarter to total 4,139,000. We also got an update on their “full fibre” FTTH/P plans and they’re selling their direct B2B business to Daisy for £175m.

The Superfast North Yorkshire project in England has revealed which will be the first areas to benefit from their £20.5m Phase 3 contract with Openreach (BT). This aims to deploy Gigabit capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband to cover 12,500 local premises (14,239 if you include FTTC).
