BT Appoint Howard Watson as CEO of Tech, Service and Operations

BT’s Chief Architect and MD of their Global IT Platform, Howard Watson, has today been announced as the man that will take over from Clive Selley as the CEO of their Technology, Service and Operations (TSO) division. Selley has of course recently been promoted (here) to the tricky role of CEO at Openreach.

Apparently Watson joined BT in 2011 from Cartesian, a telecoms software and consultancy firm where he was Managing Director. Prior to that he was Chief Technology and Information Officer at Telewest and also chief of transformation and technology at Virgin Media. Howard also led the technical teams behind the launch of BTSport in August 2013.

Gavin Patterson, CEO of BT Group, said:

He has done a great job since joining BT in 2011 and is absolutely the right man to oversee the integration of our network with EE’s. Fixed mobile convergence is an important trend and Howard will help consumers and businesses take advantage of it.”

As TSO, Howard will hold responsibility for BT’s core networks and IT systems across the globe, including its R&D base at Adastral Park in Suffolk. Howard said he was “thrilled to be appointed“.
