ISP TalkTalk Spends GBP200k to Upgrade Broadband in West Norfolk UK
Budget internet and phone operator TalkTalk (AOL) has reportedly spent £200,000 on an upgrade of their unbundled broadband (LLU) services at several telephone exchanges in West Norfolk, which includes Middleton, Terrington St Clement, Hunstanton and Heacham.
The ISP somewhat boldly claims that customers who have recently been upgraded to the new network are now experiencing an average rise in broadband speeds of 50%, which is a difficult claim to asses without more detail (base of comparison?). Most of the above listed exchanges (excluding Hunstanton) can already receive at least ADSL2+ (up to 24Mbps) technology through BT’s 21CN platform.
Overall the ISP told Lynn News that they had spent £600m on their national UK telecoms network. At the last count in May 2012 TalkTalk informed ISPreview.co.uk that its fully unbundled MPF (LLU) network coverage had now reached 2,508 telephone exchanges, covering 91% of the country. This is expected to reach 93% by the end of 2012.
