Apple TV+ to Launch on Sky Glass and Sky Q Later This Year
Sky UK (Sky Broadband) has today announced that customers of their Sky Q TV and Sky Glass TV service and devices will, by the end of 2021, finally be able to get access to Apple TV+ content. NOW TV users in the UK will also be able to both sign-up and purchase any NOW Membership via the NOW app on Apple’s devices.
The new long-term agreement also means that customers in the UK will be able to access Sky Go on Apple TV devices, albeit not until mid-2022. In line with Sky’s other streaming partnerships, Apple TV+ will be “seamlessly integrated into the Sky experience to make content easy to discover and enjoy.”
Dana Strong, Group Chief Executive of Sky, said: “With the addition of Apple TV+ our customers can now enjoy phenomenal shows like The Morning Show, Trying and Ted Lasso, together with our own award-winning Sky Originals, and the best content and apps from our partners, all on Sky Glass, the streaming TV from Sky, or Sky Q, our market-leading Sky box.”

Read this as the other way around and was way more exited. Fingers cross we see the “Sky Glass” experience as an app soon.
If only they had launched the Q / Glass app first. Glass TV is really aimed at NowTV customers. Why anyone with Q would swap I have no idea apart from the 4k pucks
Comcast announced this on their earnings call, so it only seemed natural that Sky would adopt it.
The shows mentioned may be good, but I’d get it for Foundation & For All Mankind.
Sky are also starting to offer other US streaming services like Peacock & Paramount+.
Apple TV is available on most smart tv’s anyway, it’s certainly available on my Samsung TV
I never use the Netflix option on Sky Q because again, it’s available on my smart tv’s
I think the whole point of Sky Glass is that it’s not a collection of apps.
Can’t record on it so that’s bad

Apple TV is now available pretty much everywhere, including on the £30 Amazon Fire Stick, so I wonder why Sky think this is some kind of important accomplishment
The important thing about the article is that Sky has stolen a march on its major competitors as none of the other Pay TV providers such as BT TV or Virgin Media has the Apple TV app.
All due respect, but Sky itself knows that their competiton is much broader than other pay TV providers. Every streaming service out there is a threat and so is every Internet-based TV platform, including smart TVs.
Perhaps this makes sense as a box ticking feature, but it will hardly be a system seller as they say in the gaming sector.
Apple had previously indicated they were not interested in deploying Apple TV+ via traditional cable/sat co’s such as Sky, particularly around monetisation. It seems the mood has changed – for many reasons, I’m sure.
The softening of Sky Go on a proper TV-connected streamer (other than a Playstation) is a great step forward, too.
