ISP TalkTalk Raise Broadband and UK Call Prices for Some Users
Broadband ISP TalkTalk has today raised the prices for some of their legacy internet access packages by £2.50 extra per month. On top of that, some of the UK provider’s calling charges (for those not covered by an inclusive allowance) will also be increasing again from 1st December 2021.
Firstly, the change to legacy packages does NOT apply to customers on their more modern plans, such as ‘Fibre 35 or Fibre 65’, ‘Fast Broadband’, ‘Faster Fibre’ and ‘Faster Fibre with Speed Boost’ – those were largely already covered by their March 2021 announcement. The customers it does impact should have already been informed.
In terms of next month’s change to calling charges, calls to UK landlines and some mobiles made from your home phone will be changing from 21p to 24p per minute. You can find more about the change to calling charges here.

Its insane that its considerably cheaper to make a phone call from a mobile phone than it is a landline. I remember when every advert would have a small print disclaimer saying don’t ring off a mobile as it will be considerably more expensive no matter what number dialled
Not really – mobile charges are crazy too if it’s out of allowance, it’s just most monthly mobile contracts include unlimited calls/texts within the UK.

If you have a plan without unlimited you kind of deserve it…
The only people worse off is the elderly who still rely on landlines. My mother who is in her late 50s but doesn’t understand technology was paying over £10 a month for phone calls with Virgin and didn’t have a cal package. Needless to say I switched her tv and broadband in the process as that was also on a legacy plan to Sky and over halved the bill and moved her landline number to Sipgate. Shes way happier with it in terms of cost a few pound a month over £10 to £30 a month with Virgin.
