Vodafone UK Doubles 4G and 5G Mobile Data on Pay As You Go

Tuesday, Apr 5th, 2022 (9:28 am) - Score 1,904

Mobile operator Vodafone UK will tomorrow enhance their Pay As You Go (PAYG) plans (i.e. Big Value Bundles) by doubling the amount of mobile broadband data that you can get and at “no additional cost“. Existing PAYG customers will also benefit from the increased data allowance, which will be “automatically updated for them“.

The change means that, for example, somebody taking out the operator’s 50GB bundle (30-day expiry) for £30 will, from tomorrow, see that allowance increased to 100GB. However, we should point out that the increase on Vodafone’s entry-level 5GB (£10) bundle is smaller (i.e. it rises to 7GB) and there’s no change to their unlimited data bundle, which remains at £40.

NOTE: All PAYG Bundles include unlimited minutes and calls, as well as allowing any unused data to be rolled into the next 30-day period.

In addition, most of the bundles are 4G-only, except for the top two £30 or £40 Big Value Bundles, which can support ultrafast 5G speeds in parts of more than 141 UK towns and cities. Finally, customers will also be able to access Vodafone’s loyalty programme – VeryMe Rewards – which gives access to weekly treats and deals from a range of brands including Costa Coffee, Vue, Candy Kittens and more.

However, VeryMe is only available to PAYG customers who top-up their SIM card with at least £10 of credit every six weeks (this includes any credit used to purchase a bundle).

Unlimited Unlimited 20GB (was 10GB) £15.00
Unlimited Unlimited 40GB (was 20GB) £20.00

Oh great, my 4G service can’t get much slower on Vodafone but probably will now with even more local mast congestion.

I shouldn’t worry, the PAYG plans from the big operators these days are often about as attractive as eating soil.

VeryMe is already available on Vodafone Pay as you go on the terms stated above.
Any news on whether roaming charges introduced on PAYG?

Can someone please explain why I should choose Vodafone payg over Voxi?

    1. Avatar photo Mike80 says:

You would only choose Vodafone PAYG over Voxi if you want to top up with cash at a shop.

Anyone else with access to PayPal (UK account) or credit/debit cards would do much better with Voxi.

Any news on roaming on basics plans?

    1. Avatar photo Flavio says:

It looks like roaming charges for PAYG will be introduced in June

“From 8 June 2022, Pay as you go customers will need to activate a European Roaming Extra before or during their travels. This will enable them to use minutes, texts and data while in 49 European destinations.”

Very little gain if your local mast is only 2G Edge.I really would of expected all masts to be 3G 900 4G at least by now it is 2022.
