Broadband ISP Quickline, which runs a mix of Full Fibre (FTTP) and Fixed Wireless (FWA) networks across parts of Lincolnshire, Lancashire and Yorkshire in England, has signed a deal to boost their network by taking rack space in Proximity’s Nottingham data centre (edge colocation facility).

The operator is currently being supported by investment from Northleaf Capital Partners, which acquired the company in June 2021 and is helping to fuel their future ambition to cover 500,000 UK premises via a mix of Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) and 5G based fixed wireless broadband infrastructure (here).

Meanwhile, Proximity’s related Nottingham Edge 1 site comprises 33,000sq ft of net technical space across six data halls, an IT load capacity of 4MW supply and multiple high speed direct fibre connections, including Zayo (here).

Mark Seward, Quickline’s Director of Fixed Wireless Operations, said:

“As we grow and expand, so does our need for fast, secure data. By working with Proximity we are able to avoid data congestion, reduce latency and delays whilst keeping 100% integrity of the data.”

The move should help to support Quickline’s growing network around the Midlands region by bringing the data closer to their customers, while also reducing backhaul (capacity) costs. However, Quickline’s future rollout plan remains somewhat unclear.
