Mobile network operator Vodafone (VodafoneThree) has this week begun to roll-out a new “Fix & Go” service to certain UK stores, which offers consumers “on any network” an “affordable and reliable” way to get their Samsung, Apple and Google handsets fixed in-store by one of the operator’s repair specialists.
The service, which typically costs from £49 for a battery replacement or £119 for a screen replacement (parts replaced will be covered by a new warranty), is initially being made available at five stores including: White City, London Stratford, Oxford Street Experience, Cardiff and Edinburgh Princes Street, with Belfast Cornmarket set to follow later this month. This will expand to 18 stores later in the year, with even more set to follow.
The operator added that Level 1 and 2 repairs will aim to be completed within two hours, which include a screen replacement or repair to parts such as camera (£49), battery replacement, screen replacement, charging port (£39) or back cover (£99).

To provide this service, VodafoneThree is partnering with Fonehouse (i.e. it will use their software and online booking tool to facilitate a “seamless” service). Fonehouse will also provide Vodafone repair specialists with the necessary training and equipment to carry out any repairs.

Repairs, in particular, have been too expensive or too time-consuming for many people to access, but ‘Fix & Go by Vodafone’ removes these barriers.”
Still better to use independent mobile phone repairers, in my opinion! It may be more expensive, but you’ll most certainly get a better service like Lets Talk Mobiles in Exmouth that has a brilliant reputation!

Will they be able to do warranty repairs though? At the moment most of the UK Google repair centres are EE shops
It says so, right there in the story, they arrange a new warranty after they complete a repair. They also have access to manufacturers, own online parts confirmation process. So that you do not recieve parts unrecognised notifications, after repair. So in my opinion, it’ll be a brilliant service. With guarantees.
A lot of people will not have their phones long enough for the battery to be a problem, it seems 2 years if that is the most people want to keep their phone.
My screen separated from my phone a couple of weeks ago, been knocked about so many times over the years, stuck a bit of superglue in there, that will hold it. It is only tape that holds it normally, by the look of it. Four years old, not worth paying out for it to be fixed.
Two phones on that list I will never have, Google and Samsung and to be honest, I will be surprised if I get a iPhone. Go for cheap phones, normally under £150. Keep them as long as i can, the only problem with mine apart from the screen coming away is that it is now stuck on Android 11 and will not be updated, never mind as long as it does what I want.

Just because I don’t want to spend stupid amounts on something that does what a cheaper phone does?
I can take photos and video on my phone, and it takes good ones as well, I can browse the net, but I do prefer a larger screen, I can listen to music, watch videos, but again, prefer a larger screen. Run apps that I need to run, and that is the one thing that may become a problem because of it being stuck on Android 11. I can even, surprise surprise, make and receive calls on it, also message people. Sure, it is a bit slower than a more expensive phone, but it is not that slow.
It does what I need and when it don’t, or it fails, then I will replace it.
So if you have a super-duper expensive phone, what do you use it for that is different from what I use mine for?
I do have a Mac Mini that I got a couple of years ago, so I don’t mind paying out for new stuff if it is needed.
Also, I like my recliner, it allows me to relax and read my E-Book.
Strangely enough, I did think about getting a Iphone when the Apple launched the 16e, but looking at what I use my phone for, the price of the 16e, I thought what is the point and to be honest, I am not a fan of IOS.
My Oppo phone is good, certainly for the price it was, when it goes belly up, I will look at Oppo again.
If other people want to pay outa lot of money for a phone then fine, I just wonder why.
