City-focused full fibre (FTTP/B) provider Hyperoptic, which claims to have built their gigabit broadband network to reach 2 million UK homes (mostly across blocks of flats / MDUs), has launched a new promotion ahead of the Grand Theft Auto 6 video game release that offers 3 months of free service to new customers taking their 1Gbps (symmetric) package.
According to the dedicated Hyperoptic Gamers (affiliate link) page, their standard 1Gbps package gives you the first three months free, then £26 a month on a 24-month contract (prices rise by £4 from April each year). “Those three free months are worth £78, more than the £69.99 price of a standard copy of GTA 6“, said the provider. Switchers can also get up to £300 bill credit towards covering exit fees from their old ISP.
The service typically includes a wireless router, unlimited usage and a free installation. You can also take the same 1Gbps package and discount with their Wi-Fi guarantee for a few extra pounds per month (from £31 instead of £26). In addition, Hyperoptic said they would be pausing all planned network maintenance on 12th November, when pre-loading for GTA 6 opens. Only emergency work to keep customers connected will go ahead.

Mark Bartlett, COO at Hyperoptic, said:
“As one of the UK’s full fibre pioneers, we know how important a reliable connection is when gaming. There’s no disc for GTA 6, so every copy has to be downloaded, whether it’s bought online or in a shop. If you’re playing, or someone in your household is, make sure your broadband is ready so you don’t get caught out on launch night. We’re doing our bit by pausing all planned network work on pre-load day. And with three months free, the deal more than covers the cost of the game.”
