Aquiss, a UK internet provider that is based in Shropshire, has today become the latest ISP to reveal how it intends to price its forthcoming 80Mbps (Megabits per second) capable Fibre-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC) based superfast broadband upgrade (the current service is theoretically only capable of 40Mbps).
The change, which will be effective from 12th April 2012, means that customers wanting to upgrade from the 40Mbps to 80Mbps service (assuming they can benefit from the extra speed) will need to pay an extra £6.00 inc VAT on top of the current monthly package fee.
Aquiss Statement
A new upgrade option will be made available for our FTTC (Fibre) customers from April 12th 2012, increasing the downstream sync upto 80Mbps and the upstream sync upto 20Mbps (known casually as 80/20). This is available to all FTTC package ranges (Family & Business).
For example, a customer on the providers £30 per month ‘Family 30’ (40Mbps capable sync) package will, if they take the upgrade, now be paying £36.
