Business ISP Metronet UK has today announced the expansion of its hybrid superfast fibre optic (FTTx) and wireless broadband network to reach firms in the market town of Macclesfield (Cheshire East / Cheshire) and surrounding areas, where local businesses have allegedly been unhappy with BT’s existing FTTC service.
The provider claims that local firms have been unhappy with BT’s roll-out of superfast broadband (FTTC etc.) services in the Macclesfield area, which has allegedly suffered from “poor connectivity” and fuelled demand for Metronet UK’s own dedicated and uncontended “last mile” solutions.

Metronet UK CEO, Elliott Mueller, said:
“Even though BT claimed to have rolled out superfast broadband for Macclesfield in 2010, speaking to businesses in the area soon proved that they are still feeling let down by poor connectivity in the area. Metronet UK will address this in Macclesfield.
Metronet is a company that grows with our customer demand and we know that rock solid connectivity supports local jobs and the local economy. We will deliver services quickly, cheaply and independently of existing connectivity providers.”
The provider claims to connect customers at speeds from between 1Mbps to 10Gbps via its “resilient network“, which also makes use of Gigabit radio and microwave technologies. Today’s news follows quickly on the heels of Metronet UK’s recent expansion into nearby Crewe and further afield into Tamworth.
