Virgin Media UK Lists 82 London Tube Stations for its FREE WiFi Service

Friday, Jun 1st, 2012 (12:54 pm) - Score 907

Cable operator Virgin Media has today revealed a list of 82 London Underground Tube Stations that will receive an upgrade to its free public wireless internet access (WiFi) service before the end of July. A further 38 (total 120), including “deep-level” stations, will be added by the end of 2012

The service is expected to remain free during the summer period (from July 2012) and after that it will be made available as part of the providers existing broadband and mobile subscriptions. Virgin hinted at “Pay-As-You-Go and other commercial models” during March 2012’s contract signing (here).

Jon James, Executive Director of Broadband at Virgin Media, said:

In partnership with TfL, we’ve been working around-the-clock to install and test WiFi on London Underground and are about to connect some iconic and world famous Tube stations with a WiFi service London will be proud of.”
