New mobile operator EE (4GEE) has quietly boosted the usage allowances of its dedicated 4G (1800MHz) based Mobile Broadband packages by adding up to an extra 3GB (GigaBytes) of data to their plans.
The dedicated Mobile Broadband packages previously started at £15.99 a month (18 month contract) for a 2GB usage allowance, which also requires customers to pay extra to get the necessary Huawei E589 Mobile Wi-Fi Dongle (USB Modem). The packages also included access to BT’s Wi-Fi hotspots and the EEFilm service.

But since the change those taking the £15.99 option will now get 3GB instead of 2GB, while the top £25.99 plan now comes with 8GB instead of the 5GB that it had before. Take note that the top plan also includes a FREE Huawei E589 dongle and extra usage is still charged at 500MB for £6 or 2GB for £15.
EEs Updated 4G MobileBroadband Plans
£15.99 – 3GB (plus £49.99 for the modem)
£20.99 – 5GB (plus £29.99 for the modem)
£25.99 – 8GB (free modem)
It’s unclear why EE have made the sudden change, although they could be responding to concerns that the packages were simply too inflexible compared with their competition (e.g. Three UK charges just £20.99 for a 15GB plan with an included Huawei E3231 dongle).
