The incumbent ISP for Hull in Yorkshire (England, United Kingdom), KC, has resolved a problem that left a “large number” of the providers broadband customers suffering from connectivity problems for almost a day.
The problem, which began on Wednesday afternoon and continued into the following Thursday, is understood to have been caused by a faulty radius server (this helps to manage the authentication process when customers attempt to make a broadband connection). KC claim that the problem itself was resolved on Wednesday night, although some customers report that they were unable to connect until the early hours of Thursday.
But, shortly after the first problem had been resolved, customers on KC’s new Lightstream fibre optic (FTTP) broadband service then began to suffer similar “issues connecting to the internet“. Thankfully the second problem didn’t affect as many users and was soon resolved.
KCs Spokeswoman told ISPreview.co.uk:
“[On Wednesday] evening a large number of customers had difficulty connecting to the internet due to a problem with our radius server. It was resolved [that] night but customers may have had to reboot their routers to restore connectivity.
Earlier today a very small number of KC Lightstream customers experienced slow browsing for a short time. The problem causing this has now also been resolved.
We’re very sorry for the inconvenience caused to our customers by these issues.”
At the time of writing KC had no outstanding issues left on its service status page.
