Network infrastructure developer SSE Telecoms has confirmed that ‘Project Edge’, which will expand the reach of their up to 10Gbps (Gigabits per second) capable “enterprise-class” fibre optic network across the United Kingdom, has now added another 30 Points of Presence (PoPs) to hit its target of 54.
The first 24 PoPs were enabled last November 2013 as part of Phase One (here) and the latest 30 are predominantly located in and around central London, but also include Birmingham, Cambridge, Coventry, Derby, Edinburgh, Leeds, Slough and Windsor.

Most of have been installed in or very near to the central business districts of major towns and cities.
Overall Project Edge has helped to extend the reach of SSE Telecoms’ UK fibre network to more than 13,700km, with a total of 234 PoPs serving over 200,000 metropolitan business postcodes.
The additional PoPs that are now live are: London Bishopsgate, London Covent Garden, London Faraday, London Poplar, London Mayfair, London Southbank, London Bloomsbury, London Whitehall, London Soho, London South Kensington, London Euston, London Pimlico, London Fulham, London Kings Cross, London Marylebone, London North Paddington, London Hammersmith, London Chiswick, London Shoreditch, London Westminster, London Kensington Gardens, Slough, Windsor, Birmingham, Cambridge (x2), Coventry, Derby, Edinburgh, Leeds.
