Douglas-based ISP Wi-Manx can today celebrate after they were officially granted a license amendment, which will turn them into the third full telecoms operator on the Isle of Man (this is a British Crown dependency / island located in the Irish Sea).
A spokesperson for Wi-Manx said the development meant they now had the freedom to expand their Internet access, webhosting and telephone products.
Apparently plans are already in motion to both upgrade the existing IPv6 multi-service network and further develop their residential packages.
Joe Hughes, MD of Wi-Manx, told ISPreview.co.uk:
“This is great news for us as a business and great for the Isle of Man. A core focus of our business is now on the introduction of new and never before seen business solutions which will be rolled out in the New Year.
We have worked hard to get where we are today and this has been demonstrated in our licence extension, as well as our recent Awards for Excellence nomination for Customer Service of the Year. As the only wholly Manx owned Full Telecoms Operator, despite our successes elsewhere, the Isle of Man remains at the heart of our business.”
Some of the new features that customers can expect include full voice services, SIP Trunking and a range of network services currently being developed for FTSE 100 Companies. Home users will also get a wider range of services, including lower call costs.
