ISP PlusNet, perhaps keen to put the recent spate of bad publicity behind it, has introduced another discount by offering their ‘Unlimited Fibre Broadband and Calls‘ (up to 38Mbps FTTC) package free for the first 6 months of service (£14.99 a month thereafter). Line rental must also be taken from the equivalent of £12.99 a month pre-paid.
The provider has had a difficult few weeks, which began when they slashed the upload speed of their 38Mbps FTTC product (here) and this was followed by the scrapping of 24/7 UK support calls (here), a price hike for their phone services (here) and not to mention the rather significant jump in the cost of their BTSport TV add-on (here). Ouch.
Perhaps unsurprisingly the ISP has recently swapped PR company and have already launched a new deal of 12 months free service on their standard unlimited broadband package (here), which is available for another four days. Now a shorter offer is also being applied to their superfast broadband (FTTC) capable package.
Unlimited Fibre
* Download speeds of up to 38Mbps
* Upload speeds of up to 2Mbps
* Truly unlimited usage
* Free wireless router
* Free activation
* McAfee powered internet security
* FREE UK Evening and Weekend Calls (inc. 0870/0845 calls)
* 18 month contractPRICE: £0 per month for the first 6 months (£14.99 thereafter) + line rental
NOTE: If you live in a more remote part of the UK, where BT is the only primary operator, then the price becomes £22.49 per month after the discount period.
The above reduction is expected to be available for order until 27th August 2015. Take note that the cost of line-rental is also due to rise in September (see link above) and thus the cheapest solution to lock in a discount is to take out the pre-paid option.
Elsewhere the providers Unlimited Fibre Extra package, which is like above but adds ‘up to’ 76Mbps download speeds (assuming you can actually get close to that performance on your line), has also been dropped in price to £10 per month for the first 6 months (£19.99 thereafter).
