Budget broadband ISP Direct Save Telecom has announced that they’ve cut 30p off the cost of their monthly line rental, which is now priced at £15.95 per month as standard or the equivalent of £13.50 per month when pre-paid for a year in advance (£162 in total).
Direct Save’s CEO, Stavros Tsolakis, said: “We can now boast the cheapest unlimited broadband deal, as well as the cheapest monthly and advanced line rental, so people can be assured if they come to us they will save. But it’s not just about low prices for our customers – it’s about delivering excellent service, the fastest internet speeds possible, with the best equipment, providing a quality and reliable service – all backed up with UK based support.”

Unfortunately DST’s bold claims aren’t entirely accurate and a quick look at our basic Line Rental comparison will show what we mean (here). For example, AAISP only charge £10 per month for line rental and other ISPs also charge less than the DST level.
In addition, the monthly line rental on DST’s broadband bundles is not the same price and remains confusingly listed as £17.75 per month. Similarly we note that only a couple of months ago the pre-paid line rental on those same broadband bundles was just £11.50 and thus the new price of £13.50 represents a sizeable hike.
