Optical fibre ISP Hyperoptic, which is focused on connecting big residential and office buildings inside 28 large UK cities and towns, has launched a new range of 20Mbps, 100Mbps and 1Gbps capable standalone FTTP/B broadband packages that are aimed squarely at connecting students.
The new packages are cheaper than Hyperoptic’s vanilla options, both in terms of monthly rental and because they remove the £40 one-off connection fee. Interestingly the packages do attach a 12 month contract term (students tend to prefer 9 months), although their student deals appear to make this redundant by promising that subscribers will be able to “cancel anytime without fees” (a 30 day notice period applies).
All of their packages include unlimited usage, 24/7 support and a dynamic IP address (CGNAT) or £5 for a Static IP. Remember to use the promotion code FLATSHARE17 during sign-up and you can click here to see the student offers. Oddly the product page makes no mention of an included wireless router and we are checking to see if it’s still part of the package.

As usual the caveat is that you have to be covered by Hyperoptic’s Fibre-to-the-Building / Premises (FTTB/P) network in order to benefit, which currently covers around 350,000 premises and aims to reach up to 5 million by 2025. Otherwise this deal will be available to order until the end of August 2017.
