ISP Direct Save Telecom Launch Cheaper Broadband and Fibre Services

Wednesday, Nov 1st, 2017 (3:05 pm) - Score 1,018

Budget UK ISP Direct Save Telecom has today launched a new range of consumer packages for standard broadband and superfast “fibre” (FTTC), which they claim will enable them to maintain their position as the “UK’s lowest priced broadband and telecom provider.

The new 12-18 month contract plans appear to be a little bit cheaper than their previous services and these are matched by some new no contract alternatives, which cost a bit more but at the same time they won’t keep you locked into the service if / when you want to leave.

Stavros Tsolakis, CEO of Direct Save Telecom, said:

“There can now be no question, our range of unlimited broadband deals are the cheapest in the UK. We have been working on these deals for some time now. We’ve always prided ourselves on being the lowest costing provider in the UK and are continuing to offer our customers the cheapest possible deals.”

However DST’s claim to be the “cheapest in the UK” remains questionable, not least because some ISPs (e.g. Vodafone and Origin Broadband) still seem able to beat many of their prices. Take note that all of the new packages also include a free wireless router, phone line rental, UK based support and unlimited usage.

Quick Summary of the New Packages

* 12 Month Broadband ‘up to’ 17Mbps only £17.95 pm (No Upfront Cost)
* No Contract Broadband ‘up to’ 17Mb only £29.95 pm + £24.95 Set Up

* 18 Month Fibre ‘up to’ 38Mb only £29.95 pm (No Upfront Cost)
* No Contract Fibre ‘up to’ 38Mb only £42.95 pm + £24.95 Set Up

* 18 Month Fibre ‘up to’ 76Mb only £34.95 pm (No Upfront Cost)
* No Contract Fibre ‘up to’ 76Mb only £49.95 pm + £24.95 Set Up

We should also point out that the above prices are based on connections made via an unbundled (LLU) network, which can reach over 90% of UK premises. Sadly if you live outside of that network area then the prices will suffer a dramatic rise (e.g. the 12 month 17Mbps package will go from £17.95 to £37.95 per month and unlimited usage is replaced by a 100GB cap).
