Approximately 3,000 homes and businesses in Wembley (North West London) are the next in line to benefit from Virgin Media’s £3bn Project Lightning network expansion, which will give them access to ultrafast broadband speeds of up to 350Mbps and cable TV services.
The extension is due to complete by the end of 2018 and Virgin Media intends to hold a community event in order to discuss the work on Thursday 23rd November 2017 between 18:00 and 20:00pm. This will take place at Park Lane Primary School.
Project Lighting aims to reach an additional 4 million premises (2 million of those will be via FTTP) across the United Kingdom by the end of 2019, which should extend their overall coverage to around 60-65%. This is assuming that the operator can catch-up after recent concerns over their rollout progress.
Maurice Daw, Regional Director at Virgin Media, said:
“By expanding our network in Wembley to thousands more homes and businesses, we are making the area a digital hotspot. Time-strapped families will soon be benefitting from the reliability of a service that’s 17 times faster than the local average.”
End.
