Internet Email Servers at Budget UK ISP TalkTalk Take a WalkWalk UPDATE3

Friday, Jun 14th, 2019 (12:11 pm) - Score 8,323

Customers of broadband ISP TalkTalk are finding that they’ve unable to access their email since mid-morning (around 9-10am) because a connection to the related apps.talktalk.co.uk server has “timed out,” which seems to be affecting both webmail and connections via third-party email software (Thunderbird etc.).

The fault also appears to be impacting other email domains run by TalkTalk, such as customers with addresses on the old lineone.net and tiscali.co.uk pop servers. A number of complaints about this can be found on social media (Twitter, Facebook etc.), as well as several topics via the ISP’s own Community Forum.

In a brief statement the provider said, “We’re aware some customers are unable to access their emails either through webmail or using an email client such as the mail app on the mobile device or outlook on your PC … We’d like to apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure you that our engineers are working on this as a priority.”

UPDATE 1:44pm

An update posted at 1:35pm is blaming the on-going issue on a “network fault with one of our service providers” and they continue to work on it.

UPDATE 5:19pm

The issue is still on-going and the latest status update simply adds: “We’re continuing to work with our service provider and their engineers who are making good progress towards restoring the service.”

UPDATE 15th June 2019 @ 6:17am

The service was finally restored late last night at around 10:45pm, although it may take a few hours for all your missed emails to arrive: In a statement the ISP said, “We’re pleased to confirm that following restoration work completed by the affected service provider, full service has now been restored to our email platform which we’ll continue to monitor. Once again, we’d like to apologise for the inconvenience caused by the outage today and would like to thank you for your patience.”

LOL, I’d forgotten all about them. They were my first ISP. I used to pay a monthly subscription I think of £10 or £20 and then had to pay for the call per minute on top of it! That was until FreeServe came along 🙂

Liberty Surf for me! I think it was £15 for unmetered off-peak, with an additional £20 payment for anytime 0800 access. Bought from Comet, too!

Who even still uses ISP email nowadays?

    1. Avatar photo Joe says:

Probably to busy downloading email data and selling it off.

Talk Talk is constantly having issues with either email or internet access. They are clearly not providing the service they are paid to do.

ROB I AGREE WITH YOU THIS YEAR ALONE, I HAVE HAD 4 EMAILS DOWN WITH TALK TALK TODAY I ASK FOR A REFUND AS I WAS PAYING FOR A SERVICE THAT I AM NOT GETTING THEY SAID I CANNOT HAVE ONE BECAUSE IT IS A EMAIL FAULT AND THEY DON’T PAY OUT ON THAT. WHAT A LOAD OF RUBBISH

    2. Avatar photo Mike says:

People should be punished for choosing TT.

      Hotmail? Gmail?

      Just a thought.

I’d also get a refund from whomever provided your keyboard, Keith, caps lock appears to be stuck.

Why do people use ISP email? You change providers you lose the account with everyone but Sky I believe. BT charge you a monthly fee to keep your @bt domain name if you want but the rest? Nope! Just stick with Google Mail or if you want to really stand out, register your own domain and have your own custom email address!

Not entirely correct. I have an old tiscali.co.uk email address that I still use, and I haven’t been a Talk Talk customer since sometime in 2017. I was told that as long as you log into your email account via the webmail interface at least once every six months, your email address will still operate. If they ever do decide to start levying a charge, I will be off. Don’t particularly want to go to gmail either though if I’m honest!

I remember Lineone giving an installation CD away with a Sunday newspaper. I think it was the Times from what I remember. It had a really cool video you could watch first (a bit like the original MSN installation cd’s from the windows 98 days)

AS I AM DEAF I NEED MY EMAILS BECAUSE IT IS THE ONLY WAY I CAN CONTACT MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS

    1. Avatar photo Joe says:

As a serious point a 2nd e-mail account sounds good plan then. Gmail is free a reliable.

  8. Avatar photo Verena says:

Ahw, come on, how much longer to fix this issue, it’s going on since morning

  9. Avatar photo Christopher Miley says:

Pathetic service, and no genuine remorse for the lack of service,,GOODBYE TALKTALK,I will not miss your lousy lack of service.

  10. Avatar photo Sarah says:

Been waiting for emails since 9.07am. Never had this problem b4 with talktalk. Found them very helpful when i chatted online. Had problems with cyber attacks before but never email going down for any length of time. Have left an out if office msg on talktalk email acc telling them to use gmail if urgent.

  11. Avatar photo Val says:

I have not been able to receive or send talktalk.net emails….
