Amazon Prime Video is LIVE on Virgin Media’s Broadband V6 TV Box

Monday, Jul 22nd, 2019 (9:55 am) - Score 3,782

Cable TV and broadband ISP Virgin Media UK has confirmed that Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service is now live on their Ultra HD (4K) Virgin TV V6 set-top-box (i.e. it’s today been automatically downloaded). As usual you’ll still need a subscription to Prime (from £5.99 per month) to watch the content itself.

The move means that Virgin Media’s customers will also gain the ability to “seamlessly search for and watch” Prime Video content through their V6 box, which includes related 4K content. Furthermore, from December 2019, Prime Video will exclusively show 20 live Premier League games including the Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton and Manchester United vs Tottenham.

We should point out that the £5.99 cost above is just for the Prime Video subscription, which increases to £7.99 (or £79 per year) if you also want Prime’s free one-day deliveries, music streaming, photo storage and unlimited ebook reading features.

David Bouchier, VM’s Chief Digital Entertainment Officer, said:

“Giving our customers the telly they love in one place is at the heart of what we do. This is why, from today, Prime members or those subscribing directly to Prime Video with a V6 box will have seamless access to a huge array of blockbuster entertainment – from Amazon Originals like Good Omens and The Grand Tour to thousands of TV series and movies.

Virgin TV brings the best programming together so our customers can enjoy top-class entertainment and sport when and how they want. Alongside our leading ultrafast broadband, it’s the best way to watch the best TV.”

End.

    Need to research these prices:

I have Prime, its costing me £7.99 to access the (Now) limited catalogue (the good stuff is now behind StarPlays whcih is another £5.99 a month) and eBook Reader is another £7.99 a month as is Music Streaming.

Amazon Prime is badly fragmented in my opinion, all the content is locked behind multiple paywalls as of this month and each paywall costs another £5.99 to unlock, the EPG is very user unfriendly (mixing subscription shows into the Prime) and Prime itself is mainly full of schlocky B movies.
Only saving graces are American Gods and Good Omens are still in the Prime area and not one of the 6 Paywall areas they have implemented

Obviously this is just your opinion. I have many, many programs and movies that I enjoy watching on amazon prime. I also listen to many, many songs throughout my house on the many echos that I own. I think it’s fantastic value for £79 per year.

Anyone able to get the Prime app working on Virgin Media / TiVo? Zero joy so far. Fine on PS4 however.
