Mobile operator and ISP Vodafone UK has a long “will they, won’t they” history when it comes to the idea of offering a TV (IPTV) service alongside their fixed home broadband and phone plans. Nevertheless they’ve now launched a new “Extra” tier that adds an Apple 4K TV (IPTV) set-top-box and a 1 year Apple TV+ subscription.
Until now the provider offered two FTTC based 35Mbps and 63Mbps (average speed) home broadband packages, which included phone line rental, an 18 month contract term, 6-month free trial of F-Secure SAFE, unlimited usage and a Gigafast wireless router. Meanwhile those lucky enough to be covered by Cityfibre’s new 1Gbps capable “full fibre” FTTH network could also take their Gigafast Broadband product.
The operator has now introduced an optional new “Extra” tier of packages alongside the aforementioned products, which raises the contract term to 24 months (we tend to advise against such long terms) and adds the following: Unlimited Anytime calls to standard UK landlines & mobiles, an Apple TV 4K set-top-box (normally c.£170), 1 year Apple TV+ subscription (normally £4.99 per month) and a promise of “no price rises while in contract.”
The addition of all those extra features on the Extra plans attracts an £8 increase in your monthly subscription charge. We also note that, while ‘Extra’ is available on both of Vodafone’s two FTTC packages, if you’re covered by Cityfibre’s network then it’s oddly only being offered alongside their top 900Mbps tier.

The apple tv+ bit is very shady. Buy an apple tv box and you’d get it anyway.
But then you won’t get Vodafone Internet with it, and you’d be out £179.
@spurple what he means is Apple TV+ subscription is free for 12months just for buying qualifying Apple products, it’s not something Vodafone are giving you but Apple.
