The ITS Technology Group (its.), which runs a number of fibre optic and hybrid wireless broadband ISP networks across parts of the United Kingdom (often offered via wholesale), has recruited the former Head of SME at Virgin Media Business – Dave Ferry – to help support their future “full fibre” roll-out plans.
The operator recently scored a big win after they secured an investment of £45 million from Aviva Investors (here), which is expected to help “fast track” their plans to build new “full fibre” data and broadband ISP networks that will aim to pass “at least” 200,000 premises (both homes and businesses).
At present the operator’s existing networks can already cover 70,000 premises, although that includes their wireless and other connectivity services. Future work will also involve an extension and upgrade for some of those existing networks, as well as a few totally new deployments.
Daren Baythorpe, CEO of ITS, said:
“Having recently secured our investment, we have the firepower to deliver on our business plan at pace, connecting more premises to futureproof full fibre connectivity. We are delighted that Dave will be joining the business development team to help deliver on this strategy. He will add a lot of value to the projects we have underway, as well as to our new business pipeline.”
Meanwhile Dave said he was “excited” to be joining the operator and added that “ITS’ innovative approach to reusing infrastructure to build networks plays well to my strengths and the relationships I have nurtured with local authorities.”
