Users of the broadband-based BT Sport TV App may be pleased to know that the operator will be adding Dolby Atmos® surround sound technology to it on Saturday 28th November 2020, which will get its first outing during the 12.30pm Brighton v Liverpool Premier League (football) match. But there are caveats.
Apparently, the new audio technology will only be available to both BTSport Ultimate customers, on the small and large screen App, and as part of the BTSport Match Day Experience for EE customers with the 5G “Full Works Plan” for iPhone. Customers will of course get the most benefit from using this alongside Dolby Atmos-enabled sound bars or sound systems, but it will also help when used with earphones such as AirPods Pro on iOS etc.
At launch there will be varies compatible devices including from iOS, Apple TV, Android, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV and Samsung Smart TV. Meanwhile Chromecast, NOW TV and Roku will also launch in the “coming weeks.”

Jamie Hindhaugh, COO of BT Sport, said:
“BT prides itself on innovation and delivering the best in technology and production to give our viewers a richer experience when watching live sport. The addition of Dolby Atmos audio to our 4K UHD and HDR visuals on the App, provides fans with the best possible audio-visual experience of live sport when they can’t be at the game in person.
The richer audio quality will add a whole new dimension to the way that fans experience sport, at home or on the move, and ensure they won’t miss a moment of the action.”
Existing BT Sport customers can add BT Sport Ultimate for an extra £5 per month, while new customers who subscribe by taking the BT Sport Monthly Pass, which offers no contract BT Sport access on a monthly basis for £25, can gain access for no additional cost.
They should be upgrading every broadband service in the world to 10000000000000Gb uncontended before doing anything else.
That’s about as feasible and cost effective as using a fleet of 747 cargo planes with their doors open, to capture “Scotch Mist” to sell to the Americans.
To clarify: Never going to happen.
