Smarty UK Cut Unlimited 4G Mobile Data and Calls Plan to £15

Monday, Nov 23rd, 2020 (7:40 am) - Score 7,944

Mobile operator Smarty has reduced the monthly prices of their top two SIM Only tariffs by up to 25% as part of a new Black Friday promotion for new customers, which means that their biggest unlimited calls, texts and data (mobile broadband) plan is now just £15 per month for 12 months (£20 thereafter).

On top of that the operator’s 50GB (data) package is now just £12 per month instead of the usual £15. The new offers are set to run until 1st December 2020 and, as these plans usually work off a monthly contract term, you can cancel anytime you like without penalty. Smarty is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) on Three UK’s platform, although they don’t currently support 5G on their plans (only 3G and 4G).

For anyone thinking of getting this as a home broadband replacement, you don’t get access to the CGNAT-free APN and can only go through SMARTY’s proxy. SMARTY seems to also have packet loss issues with faster speeds which can also cripple your browsing experience. SMARTY support were very useful and helpful and I personally had access to volte, vowifi and 5G though it’s not officially released yet so not guaranteed. Hope this helped anyone!

@Dan Thanks for your info, very useful.

Interesting that NOBODY at Three is bothering to address the severe packet losses you and Buggerlugz have experienced.

I used Three a while back when I moved in to a new place. I had no connection and had exactly issues as Buggerlugz documented with APN’s and it seems NOTHING has changed in years.

This must be highly embarrassing for Packet Switched Team at Three?

So that was the real reason Three went to the bother of the “20 new datacentres”, not because they wanted to actually improve their back-haul, because they wanted to offer a cheaper product to get more suckers onboard.

    Didn’t take long, did it?

Now Now don’t be so hard on them. They are a Simple, honest, oversubscribed and under funded tax write off for Three.

I would be tempted, but it’s not on EE and so I won’t touch it – call me what you will but with EE I always get mega speeds and good calls and the extra bells and whistles that Dan mentioned above and it’s reasonable priced. That said I am sim only and have been for 10 years.

Three’s network, at least where I live London, is deteriorating fast.
It’s now down to an average 700kbps at all times and this for home broadband.
I’ve seen youtube videos of some on the same service getting as high as 100mbps on their speedtests and even when it was relish I was getting around 20mbps to 30mbps down.
I don’t know what three are playing at. There must be a way they can identify congested mast’s and boost backhaul accordingly but they just do nothing.

  3. Avatar photo Buggerlugz says:

Thing is, surly by doing offers like this, all that’s going to happen is it’ll impact the speeds and reliability of three’s services for existing customers?

The mind boggles. Guess turn-over is king these days, actual service provision on the other hand……that isn’t as important.

  4. Avatar photo Roy says:

This will be ruining existing customers in speed issues and slow bottleneck network as smarty only want take money not quality service care!

I’ve had nothing but trouble and no help or support from smarty network and they have lied to me and cost me quite alot off money problems I lost everything overnight and became disabled and suffered now month after month with no support I have got evidence of this in emails off them iam lucky to be here and not dead that’s how bad I am I’ve got unlimited data plan and never got any data to use I have bought in app purchases and lost funds due to no connection to server check internet connection some times more than 38 times day they tell you that you will never get your money back or any support from them and there nothing you can do about it over £324 I have lost though in app purchases it is sickening.

Stefan wow acknowledge your experience mate I was with them too,tip I use a high 4G phone I did get great data then the fukin thing lagged, are you disabled btw? I am too, been this way since 7 years.

They do fobb you off for bandwith, funnily enough O2 called me to offer me unlimited calls, texts and 120GB data for £20 a month I took that for sure the speed is a lightning bolt.

I also recommend checking if your connection is on 3G or 4G in phone settings, hope things improve for you, you lost quite alot of money.
