Wireless and full fibre broadband ISP Dyfed Superfast (Dyfed IT), which primarily serves a few remote rural parts of Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire in Wales, has become the latest alternative internet provider to be acquired by UK ISP Voneus for an undisclosed sum.
Voneus, which is currently targeting a potentially addressable market of c.900,000 homes for their own UK FTTP and wireless networks, has been busy going through somewhat of a growth spurt thanks to a string of recent acquisitions – fuelled by a healthy influx of private investment.
Perhaps ironically, Dyfed itself had only recently gobbled up another ISP in the shape of Pembs WiFi last August 2020, which among other things gave it access to another small Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) based broadband network (here). But all of this will now fall under the Voneus brand.
According to Dyfed’s records at Companies House, Voneus gained significant control of the company’s shares on 5th January 2021.
A spokesperson for Voneus told ISPreview.co.uk:
“This is a particularly strategic deal for Voneus as it helps us expand into Wales, specifically rural areas of Carmarthanshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire where Dyfed Superfast already has established operations. In all, it provides Superfast broadband – over Fixed Wireless Access networks – to 800 homes.”
Voneus added that they were currently in the process of making contact with each of Dyfed Superfast’s customers to let them know of the change.
