Sky UK has this morning announced the launch of their new Sky Smart Home services, which bundles several common internet-connected home devices (video doorbell and chime) and a supportive app service together in one bundle from just £5 a month (plus a £15 one-off upfront fee). Selected Sky TV and Sky Broadband customers can also get a 30% discount.
Sky Smart Home essentially combines Sky’s Smart Doorbell and Chime with a new Smart Home app, bringing “live video, intelligent alerts and cloud recording together in one simple system“. From checking deliveries and answering the door remotely, to keeping an eye on pets, it helps customers catch everyday moments while they’re away.
The solution was first introduced alongside Sky Protect Smart Home Insurance, but today’s announcement means Sky’s Smart Home tech is now available to buy stand-alone for the first time on a 24-month minimum term. The service will be made available in two straightforward options, which we’ve summarised below.

Smart Home Plan 1
Smart Doorbell with Smart Home Plan – £15 upfront and £5 monthly subscription
Includes the Sky Smart Doorbell & Chime, paired with the Smart Home Plan subscription:
- Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime with 1080p full HD camera with night vision
- Live streaming and two-way talk
- Bell push alerts and motion notifications
- 30-day cloud video recording
- Video saving and sharing
- Customisable activity zones
- Tech support
NOTE: After 24 months, the subscription auto-renews at standard price (currently £5pm) unless you cancel.
Smart Home Plan 2
Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ – £20 upfront and £8 monthly subscription
Includes everything in the Smart Home Plan, plus an Indoor Camera and access to additional features via the app.
Alongside the Smart Doorbell and Chime, the bundle includes:
- Indoor camera with 1080p full HD video, night vision, two-way talk
- Motion notifications and 30-day cloud recording
- Customisable activity zones
- Scheduled and auto-arm device modes
- Option to add on Sky’s compatible smart devices including leak detectors and motion and contact sensors
Customers will then be able to view activity, receive alerts and manage their devices through the new Sky Smart Home app. The app makes it easy to set up new devices, adjust settings and access support, including step‑by‑step guidance and live chat with dedicated tech specialists.
Paul Sweeney, MD of Sky Smart Home said:
“Sky Smart Home is about making high‑quality smart tech more accessible. We’ve taken the features customers value most and made them easy to use, simple to manage and affordable, so staying connected to home feels effortless rather than complicated.”
The goal of this seems to be to undercut similar subscription services, such as from ‘Ring’ (cloud-connected video doorbell and chime), with a hopefully better product for less or similar money. The bundles are now available via Sky’s website, the My Sky app, Sky retail stores and through Sky’s customer service call centres.
Additional compatible smart devices such as the Leak Pack (£40 including x3 leak sensors) and the Motion Pack (£35 including x2 contact sensors and x1 motion sensor) can be added to the Smart Home+ plan for a one-off cost. Customers on the Smart Home+ plan can also add additional Sky Smart Doorbells (£100 each) and Indoor Cameras (£50 each).

Does this integrate into current smart home ecosystems such as Apple homekit?
Unfortunately not.
£105 for video doorbell (Eufy E340, higher quality too) no subscription required, will last longer than 2 years no doubt. add on a chime if you really need it for around £30 and you can get something without a subscription.
This product line will be dropped after a year.. usually Sky BS, buy a product off them an then pay them a monthly rental fee on top to use it.. It will be poor quality too. Just go out and ‘buy’ your own products, there are PLENTY of different brands and devices and advice on it all out there.
Prefacing ANY price with “just”, as so often happens, is the mark of the shyster. Do the arithmetic and you’ll see that you’re being fleeced.
Nope I would rather keep my ring cameras and alarm system with doorbells I pay £80 per year for the subscription so much better
Try tapo…I don’t pay for a subscription after initial purchase for my tapo system. Mini shdc card does the job. What does your 80 a month get you ? Also Tapo bells are much more durable and better looking imho.
Total garbage. Just get the Eufy 340 and be done with subscription services.
Another vote for Eufy and its products. I have had the E340 doorbell since it came out and last Black Friday I bought some external cameras at 40% list price. No ongoing subscription or link to Sky.
I had these for two years with Sky home insurance, I had nothing but trouble with them ie dropouts etc.Do not purchase I now have Ring expensive but works 100% reliable so far (one year).
