Shell Energy Adds 3 Months Bill Credit on Broadband Plans

Wednesday, January 6th, 2021 (12:06 pm) - Score 480
Shell Energy Broadband

Energy provider and UK ISP Shell Energy is giving away three months of bill credit (worth up to £134.97) on their top “Superfast Fibre” (FTTC) and “Ultrafast Fibre” (G.fast) home broadband and phone packages, which will be available to take by new customers until 8th February 2021.

As usual Shell’s Openreach based broadband packages all include a wireless router, 18-month minimum contract term, free activation, unlimited usage and copper line rental with standard call rates (PAYG). But if you need a new line installed then that will attract a one-off fee of £60.

The provider still promotes itself as offering “no end-of-contract price rises,” although this was criticised after their recent mid-contract price rise announcement (here).

Superfast Fibre
35Mbps Avg. Download
3 Months Bill Credit (£83.97)
Price: £27.99 per month for 18 months (£30.99 thereafter)

Superfast Fibre Plus
63Mbps Avg. Downloads
3 Months Bill Credit (£89.97)
Price: £29.99 per month for 18 months (£35.99 thereafter)

Ultrafast Fibre
145Mbps Avg. Download (29Mbps upload)
3 Months Bill Credit (£119.97)
Price: £39.99 per month

Ultrafast Fibre Plus
290Mbps Avg. Download (49Mbps upload)
3 Months Bill Credit (£134.97)
Price: £44.99 per month

The terms state that the included bill credit will automatically be applied to your account within 90 days of the service being provisioned, provided you haven’t cancelled or aren’t in debt to them by then. At this point it’s worth noting that the COVID-19 lockdown is likely to delay installs for new orders of their ultrafast products until at least March (here).
