Shropshire-based UK ISP Exascale, which since 2019 has been busy building a new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network to cover premises in Telford and Wrekin (here), appears to have expanded to new parts of the West Midlands by adding homes and business in West Bromwich to their plan.
The work, which is only just getting started in the area, aims to cover 4,000 “underserved” premises in the large market town, which resides only a few miles away from the major UK city of Birmingham. Judging by some of the initial information, locals in the Greets Green area may be among the first to benefit but the exact plan is still unclear.
Separately, Exascale also plans to commence a new civil engineering scheme in March 2021 that will provide Gigabit Full Fibre, Wavelengths and Dark Fibre to Business Parks located in the Hortonwood and Hadley Park East areas of Telford.
Thomas Bibb, CEO of Exascale, said:
“At Exascale we understand how important a reliable, strong and performant home or business WiFi connection is. Especially for families up and down the country, educating their children and working from home during this difficult time.
We’ve made it our mission to deliver not only Gigabit Full Fibre to the front door, but throughout the home. Providing whole home Mesh WiFi solutions as part of our standard service offering, delivering fibre like speeds in all rooms of the home.”
Residential customers will be able to choose packages that start from £32 per month for an unlimited 80Mbps (20Mbps upload) service and that goes up to £75 for their top symmetric speed 900Mbps (average) tier, which currently includes free activation and a Tenda Mesh WiFi router on an 18-month minimum contract term.
