VOXI Offers All UK Customers 5G Mobile At No Extra Cost

Contract-free mobile operator VOXI, which is an MVNO (virtual operator) sibling of Vodafone UK, has today announced that all new and existing customers will be offered the next generation of “superfast5G mobile (mobile broadband) technology as standard and “at no extra cost.”

The announcement says this “means that every customer will be able to download and stream up to ten times faster – even when in busy places,” although we note the “up to” caveat in that. Most of the benchmarks we’ve seen for 5G in the UK have tended to show that it delivers an ‘average’ speed boost of around 4-5 times (usually c.100-150Mbps) that of 4G, so you’ll be lucky to get ten times that, but better peak speeds are possible.

NOTE: 5G operators in the UK have recently gained access to additional radio spectrum bands from Ofcom, which should result in further speed improvements.

In addition, until 29th July 2021, new customers can claim even more data with a new deal – this includes 15GB data (usually it’s only 8GB) for just £10 a month, which also gives you endless data to scroll through Facebook & Facebook Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, Snapchat and Twitter.

Likewise, VOXI’s 20GB data plan (usually it’s only 15GB) is now £15 a month, with endless data for social and endless data to stream unlimited content on TikTok, YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, My5, TVPlayer and UKTV Play. The offers both come with unlimited calls and texts, free roaming in 48 European destinations and 5G at no extra cost.

Otherwise, existing VOXI customers will automatically have the 5G capability added to their plans over the “coming weeks,” but you will obviously need a 5G-enabled Smartphone and be moving through a 5G upgraded area in order to benefit (coverage is still quite limited).

    1. Avatar photo Me says:

Smarty is about to launch its 5G, some already have it. It’s also got an app coming soon which Voxi lack.
Both services I’ve pluses and minuses.

Smarty does work with 5G they just don’t advertise it yet. Mines worked for over a year now.

Giffgaff is so behind – no wifi calling, no visual voicemail for iPhones. also mostly I get 3G now or 5G and no 4G, seems like capacity issue.

Shame there’s no 5G coverage in Lincolnshire, England’s second biggest county.

It’s a shame that there’s that west/east split. Saying that, VF are rapidly deploying 5G and new masts in Hull and has seen them become joint top in the latest Rootmetrics report.

Just a shame 02 are as poor as they are

I was already getting 5G with Voxi months back!

Voxi has offered 5G for their payment plans £15 or more, but they have now provided this to all plans such as the £10 plan they have.

Got a voxi sim to replace my three sim for my 5G CPE pro router and this is what I got last night.

Not bad, not bad at all 😉

This is the fastest I’ve got on 5G so far.

    I get 50mbps on my 4g. Why do I want 5g?

Great news! Been hoping to use the cheapest (£10) plan long term as it offers plenty of data. Unfortunately, VoLTE and VoWiFi are dysfunctional with Voxi in my experience over the last few weeks. So it looks like Three will be a better option as the 5G just about stretches to my area and, surprisingly, the phone signal is superior to Vodafone and EE!
