Budget UK ISP TalkTalk has made a new ‘Fibre Plus‘ add-on available to customers taking out one of their various “fibre broadband” (FTTC and G.fast) packages, which from an extra £3 per month bundles in their “SuperSafe” F-Secure internet security boost, Fixed Price Plus, an Amazon Echo Dot smart speaker and Smart Plug.
As usual both of their FTTC based 35Mbps (Fibre 35 @ £23 per month) and 67Mbps (Fibre 65 @ £25 per month) broadband packages include unlimited usage, a wireless router, phone service, nuisance call blocking and parental controls (HomeSafe & CallSafe) as standard. But until 8th September 2021 you’ll also be able to add the ‘Fibre Plus‘ add-on with Amazon’s kit for an extra £3 or £4.95 per month respectively.
The Fixed Price Plus feature enables customers to fix the price for the entirety of their contract, with the “added guarantee of no above inflation price rises when out of contract.” Meanwhile, the paid Superfast Boost service, which is powered by F-Secure, combines online protection against viruses, ransomware, phishing scams and malicious websites – for up to 10 devices on your local network – with a password manager.
The provider’s press release only mentions their two FTTC plans, but oddly we noticed that you could also get the full ‘Fibre Plus’ add-on with Amazon’s kit alongside their £29.95 per month Fibre 150Mbps (G.fast) package too, albeit for an extra £2.05 per month. But instead of getting the Superfast Boost with this, they give you unlimited UK landline and mobile calls to replace that.
At present it does not seem possible to get this add-on with their Future Fibre (FTTP) packages from Openreach and CityFibre.
FIBRE PLUS? Do they mean fibre plus a mile of copper
