The first customers are now starting to connect via Netomnia‘s new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network in the South West England town of Cheltenham, which is being supplied via local ISP partner YouFibre as part of a £24m rollout to cover 80,000 local premises.
The announcement doesn’t clarify how many premises they’ve actually been able to reach, although the build – supported by civil engineering firms such as Light Source and MAP Group (UK) – is still fairly young, and so we wouldn’t expect them to have covered a significant proportion of the town, yet. But they do expect to reach 10,000 premises by the end of 2021.
All of YouFibre’s packages include unlimited usage, symmetrical download and upload speeds, a Wi-Fi router, a no price-rise promise within contract and 24/7 UK based support. And there is no install fee, ‘activation’ fee or line rental. Customers typically pay from £20 per month on an 18-month term for their unlimited 50Mbps package, which rises to £50 if you want their top 900Mbps plan.

Ryan Battle, MD of YouFibre, said:
“We’re incredibly excited about welcoming Joe and his family as our first customer in Cheltenham. We’re transforming the lives of people like Joe by providing hyperfast broadband speeds that can be relied upon.
The broadband industry has overcharged and underdelivered for too long, we want to break the mould by providing a faster connection and a better service at lower prices. Everyone should have affordable access to fast internet, so a whole household can seamlessly work, live and play online. We’ve seen a real appetite for better broadband in Cheltenham and look forward to getting many more customers connected to the network soon.”
End.
