Mobile operator giffgaff has recently announced that they’re launching a brand-new golden goodybag (mobile plan), just for students. Students will be able to access a special £10 goodybag, which provides 13GB of data (3GB more data than giffgaff’s regular £10 golden goodybag), as well as unlimited UK calls and texts and EU roaming.

Students who take this plan will need to activate their SIM by 31st January 2022. If ordered online, a valid ac.uk student email address will also be required upon activation. Students “without a .ac.uk email address” will also be able to take advantage of the new golden goodybag should they be in receipt of a Dig-In welcome box, available in university halls of residence around the country (the free SIM will be inside).

NOTE: Giffgaff is an O2 based Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO).

Smarty is just better than slow2. Plus you get more data for £10 than even with this deal.

unfortunately Smarty is actually a Three MVNO, so what you get will bit hit and miss.

O2 / Giffgaff is faster in my area. Here you would struggle to actually use any Three / Smarty data.

Giffgaff sadly has fallen behind the times. No Wifi calling, no VoLTE, no Visual Voicemail. Shame as I was always a fan.

I agree, but it seems a wider issue with host network O2. It does seem odd that 5G is enabled, but not VoLTE to prepaid customers.

Smarty has the best tariffs and they accept PayPal paypoint and phone app.

Couldn’t buy data… The giffgaff. Team really understood my situation and gave me Free £15 credit AND a 30gb Free data goody bag..I’m really grateful to them xx
