ISP Aquiss Discounts UK FTTP Home Broadband Packages

Shropshire-based UK ISP Aquiss has today added a bigger discount to their recently launched Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based home broadband packages on Openreach’s national network, which introduces a 50% discount on the first 3 months of service for new customers.

All of their FTTP packages come with unlimited download allowances, Standard Care, Static IPv4 and IPv6 Addresses as standard, a 12-month contract term and free activation.

NOTE: Openreach’s full fibre network currently covers 5.2 million UK premises and is expected to reach 25 million by December 2026.

However, Aquiss doesn’t bundle a wireless router in with their service, but you can always use an existing router or buy a new third-party one online. Some people prefer to use their own kit, as opposed to the more limited and restrictive devices being bundled by bigger ISPs.

    I would imagine prices will fall further when Openreach’s discounted pricing filters through?

      it’s a just promo for 3 month for new customers only … so probably a bit too soon to talk about discounts. I think the title is misleading a bit.

      A discount for 3 months is definitely attractive compared to having an up-front setup fee!

    Misleading title! The Discount only last 3 months! Forget it!

      Thanks for your input as always max.

      Fails to notice 12 month contract, no setup fees and discounted 3 months.

      *eyeroll*

      @Martin Pitt

      With the 3 months discount your charges are now more in line with the likes of Sky and BT, the big plus for customers is they have access to you Martin via here and on TTB forum 🙂

    Not got much to say about this apart from the curious ‘family’ naming, really why?

    1. Avatar photo Martin Pitt - Aquiss says:

      Because it separates it from our Business FTTP packages.

      I’m curious. What would you prefer that we call it?

    2. Avatar photo Gary says:

      Does it separate it from your Single person packages ie widowers, students away from home or is it just for families? That was my point really, what about those packages make them ‘family’ packages, but you’ve provided the answer if its not for business then its for families.

      As for what I’d prefer, though it doesnt really matter what i think. I’d drop the family and just stick with what you almost have already ‘ Pure fibre 40 – Unlimited’ .

      I like the fact you’re not using ultra, uber doober fast, etc and as sad as it is we should have to try and make it clear that FTTC isnt ‘fibre broadband’ I think ‘Pure fibre’ is a pretty decent name.

      BTW I wasn’t trashing the offering, the top tier especially imho is a damn good price, I’d be V happy at that if it was available to me.

      @Martin Pitt, Actually Martin rereading the editorial, I’ll up my rating of the packages further considering ‘Static IPv4 and IPv6 Addresses as standard, a 12-month contract term and free activation’.

      Sadly not likely to be a customer for FTTP anytime soon.

      @Gary Thanks for the feedback.

      We have actually listed our packages on our website for a number of years without “Family” or “Business” references in package names, as can be seen https://www.aquiss.net/unlimited-fttp-fibre-broadband/

      We have only added our “internal naming” of Family, in this case, when this press release was sent out for 3rd party references, which I think where the confusion has come from.

    Just by the Speed that they deliver without the “Family” bit in front

    This is just a general comment – not aimed at Aquiss in any way, but I would definitely appreciate their input. I know things with OR fibre are as they are and there’s nothing the ISP themselves can do about it. I think the deals you have offered here are very competetive compared to other companies like Zen and BT.

    Question – How is it that we can’t get closer to symmetrical speeds on OR services? This is 2021 and the fibre revolution, yet we’re still left severely wanting on upload speeds? Companies like B4rn and Hyperoptic manage to offer symmetrical services at an even cheaper price point (OK – their coverage is very limited in comparison) but surely OpenReach could do better than they are? Even 50% vs download would be great but 10 – 15%, surely that is something which must be a priority to improve?

      Basically it comes down to Openreach protecting their Leased Line sales, however, some trials have been carried out and their are rumours of things in the pipeline.
