Scotland ISP Fibrecast, which has previously deployed their own ultrafast wireless and fibre broadband network around the City Quay area of Dundee and the Airport business park, has today announced that they’ll also be selling services to homes over CityFibre’s new 1Gbps Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network in the city.
CityFibre and local contractor GCU UK Limited have been busy deploying across Dundee since late 2020 as part of a £20m investment, although the original announcement actually put this figure at £40m (here). Since then, they’ve managed to cover 12,000 homes and the rollout is ongoing.
First established in 2015, Fibrecast now operates across Dundee, Fife and Perthshire, typically focusing on underserved regions. Customers of their service currently pay from £28 per month for their 150Mbps (15Mbps upload) service on an 18-month minimum contract term, which rises to £49 for their top 900Mbps (symmetric) package. A £30 one-off setup fee also applies.
Kieran Paton, Founder of Fibrecast, said:
“We are delighted to be joining forces with CityFibre to enable many more homes and businesses across the City of Dundee to experience the benefits of full fibre broadband. For years consumers have become weary of crude and neglected broadband infrastructure but thanks to CityFibre’s new full fibre network, Dundee is being offered the chance to leap into the future and experience reliable ultra-fast broadband as it should be.”
End.
UPDATE 3:05pm
The £20m figure was a mistake by the PR firm, and the original figure of £40m remains correct.
Nice fair pricing.
Only £25/ month with bt !
I live in Dundee and CityFibre have been hard at work on installing their network. They’re really doing an impressive work.
