ISP YouFibre has announced that their new gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network, which is being built by network partner Netomnia across various UK towns, has now surged again to attract a total of 5,000 customers (up from 2,500 in October 2021 and just 1,000 in June 2021).
At present Netomnia, which recently secured £123m of funding (here), has so far covered around 90,000 premises (up from 50,000 in September 2021) and they aim to reach 1 million by the end of 2023. Suffice to say that their customer base, at least in terms of early take-up, is growing at a roughly similar rate to that of their network coverage.
The overall take-up figure as a proportion of coverage is still quite low, but that’s to be expected from a brand-new network that is still in the early process of ramping-up its rollout. During the rapid deployment phase, the pace of new build will often supress the take-up figure. The only way to truly measure take-up is to look back at areas where the network has been present for 2-3 years (YouFibre/Netomnia are too new for that).
Ryan Battle, MD of YouFibre, said:
“I’m extremely proud to announce we’ve brought our 5,000th customer onto our network. The team has put in an incredible effort to ensure not only the smooth on-boarding process onto our platform, but to maintain the high levels of customer service throughout. We are committed to providing access to reliable and affordable ultrafast internet in combination with first-class customer service.
It’s an exciting time at YouFibre as we continue to roll out our services to even more towns over the next year and we are focused on becoming the most attractive option for customers during a period when it’s more important than ever for multiple users in a household or business to be able to experience quality internet all at the same time.”
The service itself typically offers unlimited usage, symmetrical speeds, a Wi-Fi router, free installation and 24/7 UK based support. Customers pay from £22 per month on an 18-month term for their unlimited 50Mbps package, which rises to £40 if you want their top 900Mbps plan. At present, there’s also a special offer that gives the first 3 months of service for free.
After waiting 9 months for my YouFibre connection I finally have it and really happy. I spoke with two neighbours and they didn’t have a clue it was available. Perhaps I am just quick off the mark. People need to plan ahead when it comes to changing supplier so the sooner people know they can get it the better. Happy to do a leaflet drop if I get commission 🙂
Who do YouFibre use for backhaul? I assume they don’t have their own network core given the rollout locations so far.
They use netnomia
Netomnia – which is er, the same people, same owners, so “themselves”
Look forward to joining them. Be good to give the 10G home network some exercise.
