Broadband ISP Lit Fibre, which aims to build a new 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network to reach 500,000 UK homes by 2026, has officially started to go live in the Worcestershire (England) town of Evesham – despite only starting the physical build last November.
The operator – supported by an unspecified equity investment from Newlight Partners LP – has already started building in a number of towns across Gloucestershire, Hertfordshire, Suffolk, Worcestershire and Essex (here), but many of those aren’t live yet.
Homes on Lit’s new network typically pay from £23 per month on a 12-month term (£30 thereafter) for their unlimited 100Mbps package (includes a free install, symmetric speeds and a Wi-Fi 6 router), which rises to £39 (£65 thereafter) for 900Mbps (average). However, the ISP will face local competition from rival FTTP deployments by Openreach and FullFibre Limited.
Tom Williams, CEO of Lit Fibre, said: “Lit is on a mission to quickly bring full fibre services to towns like Evesham with the minimum fuss and disruption to residents. Our superior broadband and Wi-Fi services are what residents should expect of their broadband supplier – great value, amazing speeds and a reliable, consistent connection.”
Lit Fibre, please roll out your network to Bewdley! Still stuck with FTTC until at least 2026. Get a ton of packet loss on my line, due to a noisy /attenuated upstream.
£23/month is an offer price that runs out after the weekend, the word typical is doing some heavy lifting there. Good luck to the two streets in Evesham trying to claim it in time.
Also, are Lit Fibre really going to be in local competition with FullFibre? I was under the impression FullFibre are not an ISP but the network provider and Lit are an ISP. It’s FullFibre listed as having roadworks in the corner of Evesham that Lit have said they’re starting with. But I don’t know.
Different businesses, FullFibre Ltd.’s consumer brand is Fibre Heroes (https://www.fibreheroes.co.uk/)
Look at the asterisk next to the prices on that page though. Literally says Fibre Heroes are a network provider and they work with partner ISPs.
Hi @PacketLoss & @Alex A
Lit Fibre install our own network, we are not an ISP on the Full Fibre network. I can’t speak to the Full Fibre build plan but we are happy to say we are now live in our first parts of the town and able to fulfil orders there. To get our best go live offers please register your interest and we will keep you updated as we progress through the town (we are making good progress) over the coming weeks.
Best
Ben
Thanks Ben, appreciated.
It might be helpfull to give an indication of what the intiallaunch area is
Won’t the general price of FTTP 900Mbps come down after a year? You’d think the wholesale cost would go down over time. Whether it’s Openreach, CityFibre or other alternative networks.
I live near Morrisons in Evesham and put my order in for LitFibre gigabit fibre last week, quite excited as OpenReach quoted £30,000 to bring fibre to the property (Fiber On Demand).
FullFibre were actually the first company to start pulling fibre through the existing ductwork outside of my house, then later that week LitFibre were out there doing the same. Then a few weeks later OpenReach we’re also out there putting blue poly-cord through the ductwork ready for their own fibre installation. Interested to see what kind of competition there will now be, with three fibre providers in my street. We also have Virgin Media cable, which was installed a few years ago.
