A nice offer, unfortunately last time I tried their service the internet access was incredibly slow on 4G (a few megabits at the very most, often less, on a strong signal). Of course this will vary depending on the area.

Same here I left smarty cos 5G no longer in my area. Went back to Plusnet sim only for £6 a month cos I use wireless at home mot of the time.

  3. Avatar photo Andy Watts says:

Exactly the same experience for me also. I moved back to voxi as the network speed far superior to smarty.

Via uSwitch you can get 100GB for £11.95, 30 day rolling from TalkMobile, if you prefer Vodafone signal, although its not 5G/nor 4G calling as yet.

      https://talkmobile.co.uk/5g

Your information is out of date Craig, talkmobile offers 5g.

    2. Avatar photo Iain says:

Caution. Talkmobile levy annual inflation busting price rises, which is both unfortunate and unusual for an MVNO.

I’ve had no problems and I don’t live in a city

I have been using Smarty for around 3 years, been fine here, they use the 3 network. That is 4G as we don’t have 5G here, and I don’t have a 5G phone.

3 used to be awful here, but it is much better now.
The price above is good, not that I am interested in getting 5G even if we had it here, I have a 2GB package for £7 and if I don’t use it all I get money back, in fact they have increased me to 3GB, i don’t even use a GB,

I’m on id mobile, 8GB for £7 and it rolls over.

I rarely use 1 gig, but it’s nice to have the option.

I also get included texts and data in Europe.

You can get a lot more data for £7

    2. Avatar photo ad47uk says:

@Chris, that is a good package for the price, ID mobile uses the three network like Smarty, and they are or were owned by Dixons.
I had a quick look at their page, it is strange that 12 month packages offer the same as 1 month.

I am ok with Smarty, the money back is good, not a lot, but sometimes it can be £1.50ish, better than nothing.

The problem with ‘spot’ reviews about someone’s network experience is they are so variable, that someone on X network in X area had a good, bad, super, average time is impossible to gauge.

Usually it’s they saw ‘price’ first and then feeling cheated ‘blame’ the network – and that’s why you see more bad reviews.

Every single network will have issues in some areas, some might br better / worse. So be really careful with ‘spot’ reviews.

Spot on, here I used to have problems with vodafone, which is one of the reason I dropped them and went for EE, well plusnet, also the price. But other people in other places say vodafone is great.
I changed to smarty from plusnet due to price.

  8. Avatar photo John Smith says:

Mobile network performance is cell specific. So literally 500m2 specific blocks over the entire country.

So all these “network sucks” posts are pointless. You simply need to use the carrier with the best performance in the cell sectors you’re in the most. All carriers suck somewhere.

That being said, I’m on Smarty after moving from o2 two years ago and haven’t looked back. O2 is useless if you actually want… Data.

  9. Avatar photo Simon says:

I put £12 on voxi every month and my allowance never seems to drop so its basically unlimited

Always done it not sure why

    1. Avatar photo Fabrizio says:

It’s because with Voxi some apps or websites are unlimited and don’t affect your allowance ( Facebook, WhatsApp etc… )

  10. Avatar photo Nando says:

Very good 5G speeds, faster than Vodafone in my experience. But Three/Smarty doesn’t have 5G everywhere, meaning that we’ll have to use their 4G at times and their 4G is really slow (at least in places like London).

  11. Avatar photo Pete K says:

I’m going to try Smarty as I’m with Giffgaff and the mobile phone signal where I am (south west) is appalling.
Giffgaff do not do 5G here, however Smarty do in my area (surprise)
