Property management firm Tower Hamlets Homes (THH), which looks after social housing across the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, has launched a new scheme that will offer a “limited number of free internet connections” for 12 months to residents (this will include free a router and installation).
The announcement doesn’t state how many of these connections will be made available, but in order to be eligible residents will need to be in receipt of any means tested benefit and/or a disability related benefit (credits to Zakir for spotting this). The THH property you reside in must also be in an area that is being serviced by one of the firm’s chosen providers.
“Applying does not guarantee you with free broadband as the number of free connections are limited and is also dependent on whether your block/estate has been fitted out with the providers equipment and is connected as a live site,” states the related application form (here).

Nothing is known about the package itself (service speeds, post-discount prices etc.) and they don’t name which UK ISPs are supporting the new promotion, although CommunityFibre and Hyperoptic are probably involved since they’ve been active in THH’s properties with their full fibre network.
UPDATE 26th Feb 2024
Took a couple of years, but we’ve seen that BT are one of the ISPs offering this deal in Tower Hamlets.
Great, it’s already hard to get into multi dwelling units and now property managers decide to leech off ISPs in order to deceive their tenants and deflect from their awful property management
Wow
If it reduces the stabbings I am all for it.
No chance of that in Tower Hamlets and we all know why.
