Infracapital-backed ISP Ogi, which is currently investing £200m to deploy a new Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network across 150,000 premises in Wales by 2025, has expanded their existing civil engineering contract with Avonline Networks (M Group Services). The move will increase Avonline’s business for Ogi three-fold.
The original £25m agreement between Ogi and Avonline, which was officially unveiled last year, was focused on the South East of Wales and deploying full fibre to reach 52,000 homes and businesses in the region (e.g. Abergavenny, Monmouth and Chepstow). Ogi is also working with other contractors in different parts of Wales, such as O’Conner Utilities in Central South Wales and Network Plus in South West Wales.
Following the success of the first-year roll-out, Avonline has today confirmed plans to extend its partnership with Ogi and start work to enable many more communities to benefit from Gigabit-capable broadband speeds, from as early as December this year. The move will increase Avonline’s business for Ogi three-fold.

Neil Harris, Head of Network Build for Avonline, said:
“We are proud to be a partner to this broadband success story which is delivering for towns and villages right across south Wales.
We will continue to draw on our extensive full fibre network roll-out experience and capabilities in our extended partnership with Ogi that will deliver a significantly enhanced broadband service for people and businesses across the region.
These works will bring a range of benefits to local communities including an enhanced full fibre broadband service and new digital opportunities for work, learning, leisure, and wellbeing, as well as considerable environmental benefits.”
So far Ogi has already connected premises in a number of locations since their rollout started (here and here), including around Haverfordwest, Rhoose, Llantwit Major, St Athan and Abergavenny. The build has also progressed in Johnston, Milford Haven, Dinas Powys and Monmouth etc. We recently published a full list of the 38 locations being targeted so far under Phase 1 (here).
Customers of the service typically pay from £30 per month (first 6 months free) for an unlimited service with downloads of 150Mbps (15Mbps upload), free installation and an included wireless router (a mesh system on their faster plans) on a 24-month term, which rises to £60 for their top 900Mbps (90Mbps upload) plan.
Heavens above. Good luck with that Ogi babes. Let us know how it goes…….
